  3. Beautiful! She's probably afraid of the unknown. Hang in there, it will be worth it. Children adapt quickly (way better than adults)

  5. Mike you had me experiencing every emotion. I laughed, cried, and laughed again. You are a great writer. Rebecca is beautiful. Hang in there. I am sure the three of you will be feeling more comfortable together soon. Children tend to adapt very quickly and she is with two people who love her very much. Have fun getting to know you lovely daughter.

  8. You make a beautiful family! Xiu is just afraid of the unknown. She is also moving from one comfort zone (Chinese culture) to another and new cultural space. The thought of learning a new language is most likely scary, even though children her age become proficient very quickly. Lucas cried for three weeks to go back to Macon while he was in Brazil this summer. He had trouble with Portuguese language. He finally got the language and communication sorted and the last two weeks were terrific. He went trhough culture shock and language adaptation. Xiu will too. Call on us if you ever want to talk through it. We have experienced with our own kids and I do every day with my international and study abroad students. All in all, Marina and I are thrilled for you. This is already a success! Oh, and Clara said tonight that she would learn Chinese if it would help Xiu/Rebecca. She is eager to have a girlfriend on the block! Stay safe. Eric
